South Korean giant Samsung recently patented a decidedly extreme foldable smartphone. Here are the details
The LetsGoDigital team has discovered a patent dating back to September 2020. It is a 52-page document titled “Foldable electronic device including electronic pen”. Let’s find out the details together.
Samsung: a patent for a new foldable smartphone has surfaced
The device depicted in the drawings is called by Samsung itself “multi-foldable device” and essentially looks like a foldable smartphone or tablet with two hinges and a screen that can be folded into three parts. It seems that the South Korean manufacturer is exploring various possibilities, so much so that it would be studying folding mechanisms both outward and inward: both variants are visible in the drawings.
That Samsung has filed various patents does not imply that the manufacturer plans to release a real product. Samsung was planning to release a tri-fold smartphone before the end of 2021, say Nikkei website.
