Successful Haute Couture Sale by Christie’s at Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week recently saw a successful online Haute Couture sale by Christie’s, featuring 114 beautiful pieces from the V.W.S Collection — From Beijing to Versailles. The sale attracted a total of €694,890, far exceeding the pre-sale estimate of €101,100, with 100% of the lots sold and 85% exceeding their high estimate. The sale saw 52% new buyers, making it a well-received event among the fashion community.

The top lot of the sale was Lot 563, a velvet dress from Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld from the Haute Couture Autumn Winter 1988–1989 collection. The dress, entirely embroidered by Lesage with “Tudor” patterns and a removable white satin collar, sold for an impressive €56,700, surpassing its pre-sale estimate of €4,000 to €6,000.

As requested by the family, 5% of the sale’s proceeds will be donated to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. This successful sale demonstrates the continued demand for Haute Couture fashion and the timeless appeal of iconic pieces from renowned fashion houses such as Chanel and Saint Laurent.
